The Test:

The GED exam is made up of four subjects, divided into separate tests. You don’t have to take all four tests at once — you can go at your own pace for prep and space out taking the tests to best fit your schedule. Check out this overview of what’s on each subject of the GED.

Why is NY no longer offering the TASC? How is the GED different?

Data Recognition Corporation, the creator and administrator of the TASC high school equivalency test has decided to retire the test as of December 31, 2021. NYSED has chosen the GED test as New York’s high school equivalency test starting in January 2022. The key difference between the TASC and GED are the number of subject tests included. The TASC test contains 5 subjects: Reading, Writing, Science, Mathematics, and Social Studies. The GED test contains 4 subjects: Reasoning Through Language Arts (a combination of reading and writing), Science, Mathematical Reasoning, and Social Studies.
