Kenya was motivated to get her GED because of her daughter and the lack of pay she was receiving.
“It was so important to me to get my GED not only to set a good example for my child but obtain a career that I can enjoy and not just have to do odd jobs because of not having the proper credentials.”
Kenya enrolled in a GED program at Tallahassee Community College where she took night classes Monday through Thursday and loved it.
“My teachers at Tallahassee Community College were very helpful and informative. But my determination and wanting it more than anything ultimately helped me succeed.”
She remained at the same community college to start her first semester of college now that she has her diploma.
“I am pursuing a degree in biological science so being a forensic analyst is in my very near future!”
