Scores & Passing the GED® Test

The GED® test has a passing score of 145 on each test subject. Therefore, you will need to reach a score of at least 145 on each part and a total score of 580 across the four test subjects in order to receive your GED® test credential.

The enhanced score report from GED Testing Service provides personal feedback just for you. You will be able to see what your score means, what skills to develop, and how to score higher on your re-test. You can also choose your favorite study book and be informed of what sections you need to improve on.

Scores are usually available the same day you test on your account dashboard under the My Scores section. Log in to see your scores.

The enhanced score report will usually be available within 24 hours of testing. You will receive an email when your scores are ready for viewing.

After passing all four parts, you will be notified on your Scores page that you have passed the GED® test. You will automatically receive an electronic, secure, diploma and Smart Transcript. This is delivered immediately to your email address after your test is scored. You can view, print and request a professionally-printed diploma free of charge. You can also order additional electronic and physical transcripts/diplomas to be sent directly to an employer or college of your choice.

The Smart Transcript is an electronic patented pdf transcript that provides your performance summary on the GED® test. It is the document that universities will use to validate that you have passed the test and earned a GED® credential. The Smart Transcript provides an electronic transcript that you can save or email to colleges and employers along with a description of the skills and abilities you demonstrated on the GED® test through links within the Smart Transcript.

Visit our request a transcript page to learn about how to request a transcript. In order for a college or university to accept your transcript, an original document must be provided directly to them by GED Testing Service. These institutions do not accept duplicates or copies of the transcript or GED® Diploma provided by the student. You will need to order duplicate copies from our transcript page and request the name and address (or email) of the institution where you would want it delivered. Email delivery is preferred so please ensure you have the email address of the admissions office available when ordering. Electronic versions are delivered within 48 hours of the request.
