District of Columbia GED Resident Discount Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions apply to the “District of Columbia (“DC”) Resident Discount”

The DC Resident Discount is available to eligible DC residents and includes one (1) attempt in which the GED® test price is waived and one (1) free retake for each of the four (4) GED® content area tests. The DC Resident Discount applies only to GED® tests and retests scheduled and taken in-person at a Pearson VUE Authorized Test Center. The DC Resident Discount does not apply to tests or retests scheduled and taken through the Online Proctored test delivery system. Unless waived by DC, the DC Resident is responsible for the Jurisdiction Fee of $3.75 per GED® content area test. The four GED® content area tests are: Reasoning through Language Arts, Social Studies, Science and Mathematical Reasoning.

The DC Resident Discount is administered by GED Testing Service LLC (“GEDTS”). GEDTS will provide eligible DC residents a promotion code for the value of the GED Official Test (“Promotion Code(s)”). Test-takers may use the Promotion Code(s) to schedule the individual’s first attempt for each GED® content area test.

In addition, until June 30, 2024, the DC Resident Discount includes a Promotion Code for eligible test-takers to receive up to two (2) free retests. Effective July 1, 2024, GED Testing Service’s discounted retake policy will change to one (1) discounted retake per failed content area attempt. Therefore, to use the two (2) free retests, individuals must complete the second free retake attempt no later than June 30, 2024. Test seating may be limited and if no seating is available before June 30, 2024, the second free retake offer expires with no refund or credit toward a second retake.

Beginning on July 1, 2024, the DC Resident Discount includes a Promotion Code for eligible test-takers to receive up to one (1) free retest.

If a test-taker fails to appear for a scheduled testing appointment, that “no-show” event will count as an attempt of the GED Official content area tests and the Test-taker is not allowed to use a Promotion Code for that same content area test again.

After a DC resident has consumed the DC Resident Discount, the individual is responsible for the full cost additional GED® testing.

Eligibility Requirements: To be eligible for the DC Resident Discount, the Test-taker must meet all the District of Columbia’s policy requirements for taking the GED® test.

GEDTS retains the right to request additional information when processing or validating the use of the Promotion Code(s) and is not responsible for late code entries. If a Test-taker fails to meet any of the requirements of these Terms and Conditions, they will not be allowed to use the Promotion Code. The DC Resident Discount is only authorized in connection with the District of Columbia GED® test computer-based testing program.

The Promotion Code is non-transferable and not redeemable for cash and cannot be applied to any other purpose, or purchase, or combined with any other discount.

These Terms and Conditions are subject to change at any time without notice. Additional terms and conditions may apply. GEDTS and/or District of Columbia reserve the right, without notice, to cancel, suspend and/or modify the DC Resident Discount, in whole or in part, if any fraud, technical failures or any other factor beyond its reasonable control impairs the integrity or proper functioning of this promotion. GEDTS reserves the right to disqualify any individual it finds to be tampering with the GED® test

scheduling system, or otherwise acting in violation of these Terms and Conditions. Void outside the District of Columbia and were prohibited by law.
